The stimulas is 730 BILLION. Increasing the SBA guarentees to 90% also helps the small business. If not for the backing there would be no loans. Do you not understand the banking system? Liquidity is essential in the banking system. In case you do not understand the term I will explain it to you. Liquidity means that banks have money to lend. There is a finite amount of money a bank may lend based on it’s federally required reserves. Once that money is loaned, it can loan no more money. So the bank must be able to sell it’s loan portfolio in order to become “liquid” so it can loan more money. If the entire market is not liquid then there are no loans. No loans, no buisness. That is why it is essential that liquidity be restored to the system.

Also, “pork” in a stimulas bill is not all bad. The objective of a stimulas is to inject money into the economy in order to”stimulate” it. Any spending that produces goods and services (thus jobs etc. ) is good. At the present time whether it is wasteful spending is of secondary importance.

I am always amazed at people who rant and rave and have absolutely no idea of the basic economics of the country. You read something on the web, or hear it on the news and automatically think it is accurate. Pick up a real book!!!! Learn about how things really work before you sound off!

it’s 740 BILLION, not million, and pork, as you call it, is still spending and that “pork” you denigrate is going to help both republikans AND democrats. Maybe thats the difference between the two parties–the left says “we can use any stimulus money, no matter how big or small”, while the right says “wa wa wa, someone else is getting more money than me, boo hoo, whine cry complain”. If your pseudo “small business” is getting zero dollars, maybe it’s because you don’t need the money (but you’d take it anyway). Heck, my business doesn’t need any bailout, and i won’t apply for any and i wouldn’t take it even if offered–but then, i’m not a whiny republikan.
